On the 1st of May, we were proud to open our new state-of-the -art NMR and MS facilities. With the help of a 1.2 million pound investment from EPSRC and the School of Chemistry (Structuring the Future-Underpinning word-leading science in EaStCHEM through cutting edge characterisation) the NMR facility was able to consolidate its position as a 'centre of excellence' for its acclaimed research in cutting-edge molecular science. In particular we welcome a brand new 500 MHz spectrometer with ProdigyTM Cryoprobe which will enhance our capabilities and boost our capacity.

The day started with a keynote lecture by Prof Marcel Jaspars FRSE (Aberdeen University) followed by talks from EaStCHEM researchers, Prof Sharon Ashbrook (St Andrews University), Dr Dusan Uhrin and Dr Logan Mackay (Edinburgh University). This mini symposium was followed by the grand opening of the NMR/MS labs by our Head of School, Prof Eleanor Campbell, FRS and drinks and nibbles in the MS lab. To top the day off it also happened to be Dusan's birthday, so of course there was a birthday cake!
